News sources in Brattleboro, VT, report April 7, 2009, a Brattleboro bus driver has been arrested and placed on administrative leave for using the brakes on her school bus as a means to discipline elementary school children from Academy and Oak Grove Schools.

Police say Lili Guillet, 38, a driver for First Student, would intentionally slam on the brakes to get the attention of children who were misbehaving, which caused all the children on the bus as well to tumble and hit their heads on the seat in front of them or fall onto the floor.

While officers reported no serious injuries to any of the children, they did charge Guillet, a with careless and negligent operation.

Cincinatti, Ohio-based First Student School Bus Transportation Company has placed Guillet on administrative lead pending the completion of its own investigation, according to First Student spokeswoman Nicole Jones.
